President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the World Bank Director for the South Caucasus region, Henry Kerali.
Henry Kerali praised the measures being taken in Azerbaijan in the area of economic development and the work aimed at improving the well-being of the population. He said that the cooperation between the World Bank and Azerbaijan was gratifying.
Noting that Azerbaijan had achieved successful economic development in recent years, President Ilham Aliyev said that the country had just approved a new five-year economic development program, which views the development of the non-oil sector and industry as one of the main priority areas. The head of state indicated that the program also takes into account the high demographic development in Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev said that the country is carrying out targeted measures to improve the social situation of the middle class.
The sides exchanged views on ways of expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank in a variety of directions, including the fields of agriculture, culture and other areas.
