President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received the former Prime Minister of the Republic of France, Dominique de Villepin.
Former Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the rapid economic development of the country. Touching upon the economic growth in Azerbaijan, the French visitor expressed a wish for such significant results to be achieved in Europe as well. He highlighted the place of Azerbaijan in the region, as it plays the role of a bridge between the East and the West and considers secular values a priority for society. Dominique de Villepin said that his country was interested in developing partnerships with Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that along with the successful development of Azerbaijan's economy, the country attaches great importance to diversification. Stressing that France was one of Azerbaijan 's most important partners, the President said that the two countries have strong political ties. Referring to the development of relations in the economic sphere, President Ilham Aliyev pointed to a mutual interest in a further expansion of cooperation in this direction.
