President Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
Describing the visit by a large delegation led by Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to Azerbaijan as a good sign of cooperation between the two countries, the President expressed his confidence that it would be successful and give an impetus to a further expansion of relations. Emphasizing that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine were developing dynamically and political relations were at a high level, President Aliyev stressed the importance of elevating economic cooperation to the level of political ties. Noting that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the cooperation with Ukraine, the head of state highlighted the need for continued cooperation in bilateral, multilateral and regional formats and a further strengthening of the partnership between our two countries.
Prime Minister Mykola Azarov conveyed greetings on behalf of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. He said the President of Ukraine had great respect for President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people. The Prime Minister said he had witnessed large-scale construction and creative work in the Azerbaijani capital.
The sides exchanged views on energy, infrastructure issues, trade and economic cooperation.
The President of Azerbaijan thanked the Prime Minister for the greetings from Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and asked him to communicate his greetings to the President.
