President Ilham Aliyev has received the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, Kunio Mikuriya.

Indicating that Azerbaijan is a very active member of the World Customs Organization, President Ilham Aliyev pointed to the importance of the fact that Baku is hosting the 2012 conference of heads of customs services of the European Region of the World Customs Organization. The President expressed hope that the Baku conference of heads of customs services of the European Region of the World Customs Organization would further strengthen the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization.

Saying that Azerbaijan was rapidly developing from an economic point of view, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, Kunio Mikuriya, expressed his satisfaction with the visit to our country. He said the international conference on “Combating the Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs” successfully held in Baku with support from President Ilham Aliyev last year had been very helpful to the World Customs Organization. He stressed that as a result of that event a representative conference had been established in Brussels.

The sides pointed to the presence of good opportunities for a further expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Customs Organization.
