President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has held a phone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
During the phone conversation, the heads of state condemned US President Joe Biden's statement on the so-called "Armenian genocide". Noting that this decision was erroneous, President Ilham Aliyev called it a historic mistake.
The head of state emphasized that Azerbaijan considered that statement unacceptable.
During the conversation, President Ilham Aliyev said that the statement significantly damaged the emerging cooperation trends in the region.
The head of state noted that Azerbaijan has always stood by Turkey.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan thanked President Ilham Aliyev for his support and position. He also reiterated that Turkey has always stood by Azerbaijan.
The heads of state welcomed the development of brotherly and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey in all spheres.
