President Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister on Economic Affairs, Ruz Nuri Shaways.

Emphasizing that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq have a long and successful history of development, the head of state pointed to good opportunities for their further expansion in the future. Touching upon political cooperation, President Aliyev stressed the importance of mutual support between the two countries within international organizations. The President noted that there were opportunities for the development of economic cooperation. Pointing to the importance of Ruz Nuri Shaways’s participation in the Crans Montana Forum, President Ilham Aliyev expressed his confidence that the visit would be important to the discussion of issues of bilateral relations.

Ruz Nuri Shaways conveyed greetings on behalf of President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to President Ilham Aliyev. He expressed his satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan and a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev.

The sides pointed to the existence of a good potential for the development of cooperation in the fields of energy, tourism, investment, etc.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings from President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and asked the Deputy Prime Minister to communicate his greetings to the President and Prime Minister of Iraq.
