President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said he was pleased to welcome the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan and recalled with satisfaction the state visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan in June. The President of Uzbekistan emphasized that work on the directions laid out during the state visit was well underway, that the activity of the intergovernmental commission had been organized and that the tasks assigned were being fulfilled. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev pointed out that high-level reciprocal visits were continuing, saying the recent visit of the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament to Uzbekistan and cooperation between the two parliaments was gratifying.
Emphasizing that the primary goal on the agenda was the further development of bilateral relations in all areas, the President of Uzbekistan described the mutual awarding of cultural figures of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan as a positive development. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again noted that he was delighted to welcome the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan as a dearest friend and brother.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the invitation to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit for the first time. Emphasizing that Azerbaijan had the status of a dialogue partner in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the head of state pointed out that Azerbaijan had been invited to the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a guest of honor for the first time during the presidency of Uzbekistan, and congratulated President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the successful chairmanship.
President Ilham Aliyev stated that good results had been achieved during Uzbekistan's chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Saluting the reconstruction, landscaping and beautification work in the city of Samarkand, the President of Azerbaijan noted that the development of Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was causing tremendous joy for the people of Azerbaijan. The head of state said that the two countries were together as brotherly and friendly states creating new substance In their bilateral relations.
Recalling his state visit to Uzbekistan with fond memories, President Ilham Aliyev invited President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Azerbaijan.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev accepted the invitation with pleasure.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that there are specific results in the development of bilateral relations in agriculture, cotton growing, knitting, transport, industry, trade and other fields. Pointing to the rapid development of economic and trade relations, the head of state also described the mutual awarding of cultural figures of the two countries as a welcome development.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
