President Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led by the governor of Volgograd region of the Russian Federation Sergey Bozhenov.
The head of state congratulated the governor of Volgograd region of the Russian Federation on his assignment and wished him success in his future activity. President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation; he also emphasized the role of different regions of Russia, including Volgograd in the development of these relations. The head of state said the trip of the governor of Volgograd region Sergey Bozhenov to Azerbaijan will be a big contribution to the active development of bilateral relations between our country of and this region of Russia.
As a former mayor of Astrakhan, Sergey Bozhenov expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and Heydar Aliyev Foundation for their input to the development of this city. The guest said the construction of the new school, park, bridge and the statue of national leader Heydar Aliyev in Astrakhan was a particular example of our relations and will contribute to the strengthening of our cooperation and friendship in the future. In regards to the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Volgograd, Sergey Bozhenov also said the population of his region even now remembers the trip of national leader Heydar Aliyev to Volgograd. He also stressed the big respect the people of the region pay to the twice Hero of the Soviet Union Hazi Aslanov and the Hero of the Soviet Union Khidir Mustafayev in the heroism they showed during the defense of Volgograd from the Fascists.
