Ilham Aliyev received Governor of Astrakhan Region of Russia

On December 10, Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, received Igor Babushkin, Governor of the Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation.

Highlighting the importance of the delegation's visit to the Gubadli district, led by the Governor of the Astrakhan Region, President Aliyev underscored the significance of constructing a kindergarten there as a gift from the Astrakhan Region. He expressed his gratitude once again, describing the gesture as a strong symbol of the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia and the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Astrakhan Region.

President Aliyev also spoke of the delegation's firsthand experience of the destruction in those territories and the reconstruction efforts underway to facilitate the swift resettlement of former internally displaced persons (IDPs). He noted that the destruction witnessed in Gubadli was representative of the devastation across Karabakh and East Zangezur.

The President emphasized the immense value and symbolic importance of support for the reconstruction and restoration of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, particularly in developing social infrastructure. He highlighted the role of contributions from friendly nations in this process.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the development of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia across various fields, alongside the successful collaboration between Azerbaijan and specific Russian regions, including the Astrakhan Region.

President Aliyev characterized this year's state visit of the Russian President to Azerbaijan as a milestone in bilateral relations, noting its productivity and comprehensive outcomes. He further remarked on the contributions of the Russian Prime Minister’s visit to the expansion of bilateral cooperation.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, Governor Igor Babushkin noted that his earlier visit to the Gubadli district offered a valuable opportunity to witness the ongoing developments firsthand. He reiterated the importance of constructing the kindergarten and detailed measures taken to enhance economic and trade cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The meeting also explored prospects for collaboration in transport, transit cargo, agriculture, trade, tourism, and humanitarian initiatives.

At the conclusion, Governor Babushkin presented a keepsake to President Aliyev.
