Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, made a phone call to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, on December 10.

During the conversation, the two leaders highlighted the steady development of Azerbaijan-Türkiye brotherly and friendly relations, built on a foundation of strategic alliance.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the active participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Mrs. Emine Erdoğan in the COP29 Leaders' Summit held in Azerbaijan. He emphasized the significant contributions made by the Turkish delegation to the conference's success.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart on the successful organization of COP29 and acknowledged the achievements accomplished during the negotiation process.

The discussion also addressed regional issues concerning the South Caucasus and the Middle East, with a particular focus on Syria following the collapse of the Assad regime. Both leaders extended their congratulations to the Syrian people and reiterated their unwavering support for Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that a period of stability in Syria could begin with Türkiye’s close support. He reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness to collaborate with fraternal Türkiye in addressing the humanitarian challenges faced by the Syrian people.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that Azerbaijan and Türkiye would work together to provide humanitarian aid and support to the Syrian people and expand their cooperation in all other areas.

The conversation concluded with an exchange of views on the prospects for further strengthening the brotherhood and strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
