Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by the chairman of the Political Group of European Conservatives and Reformists of the European Parliament

President Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the chairman of the Political Group of European Conservatives and Reformists of the European Parliament, Martin Callanan.

Noting that the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union were developing successfully in various fields, President Ilham Aliyev recalled with satisfaction his own fruitful visit to Brussels and the visits by European Union President Herman Van Rompuy, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Union High Representative Catherine Ashton to Azerbaijan. Pointing to a high level of cooperation, the President stressed the importance of a further expansion of cooperation.

The chairman of the Political Group of the European Conservatives and Reformists of the European Parliament, Martin Callanan, said in turn that the European Union was interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan, a country that occupied a favorable strategic location.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, regional relations and other matters.

The parties also exchanged views on issues relating to the current state and prospects of the negotiations on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
