Ilham Aliyev received the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, conveyed greetings on behalf of Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili. Noting that this was his first visit to Azerbaijan as minister, Irakli Gharibashvili said that Georgia attaches particular importance to the strategic partnership with Azerbaijan. He expressed his confidence that through the efforts of the new government of Georgia the strategic partnership and friendly relations between the two countries would further expand and deepen in all fields. Irakli Gharibashvili described it as an excellent indicator that one of the first visits of Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili was paid to Azerbaijan.

Stressing that Azerbaijan and Georgia have had long-standing historical ties, friendship and fraternal relations, President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the new Georgian government attaches great importance to the further expansion of friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries. The head of state noted that Azerbaijan, in turn, would make every effort to ensure that bilateral relations become even stronger and broader in scope. Referring to the cooperation between the law-enforcement agencies of the two countries, President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of stepping up the joint fight against crime and exchange of information.

The President expressed his gratitude for the greetings from Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili and asked the minister to convey his own greetings to the Prime Minister of Georgia.
