President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by a member of the British Parliament and the envoy of the Prime Minister for issues of Commerce in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Charles Hendry.

Expressing his gratitude for the address of British Prime Minister David Cameron to the oil and gas conference, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of the fact that it reflects the strong partnership between the two countries, as well as many years of successful activity of BP in Azerbaijan. Recalling with satisfaction his meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron in London last year and the discussions on cooperation in the energy sector, the President expressed his hope that the cooperation in this area would be continued in the future too. President Ilham Aliyev said that the visit by the envoy of the British Prime Minister, Charles Hendry, to Azerbaijan was a good opportunity to exchange views on the further development of bilateral relations.

A member of the British Parliament and the envoy of the Prime Minister for issues of Commerce in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Charles Hendry, said that the UK government was interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Charles Hendry said that 2013 was important from the point of view of transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe.

The sides exchanged views on further development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Great Britain in the areas of trade, economy, energy, etc.
