President Ilham Aliyev has received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine, Riad Malki.

The head of state noted that Azerbaijan and the State of Palestine maintained active cooperation. Expressing his satisfaction with the high level of political relations between the two countries, President Ilham Aliyev said that there was good potential for the development of cooperation in the economic sphere, stressed that business and investment opportunities were being explored. Recalling with satisfaction the visit of the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, to Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of the issues related to the strengthening of cooperation discussed during the visit. The President said that the two peoples had warm and friendly relations, stressed the importance of Azerbaijan’s support for the initiatives related to Palestine in international organizations, including the UN.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine, Riad Malki, thanked the head of state for the opinion regarding the expansion of cooperation with his country. He handed the letter from the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, to President Ilham Aliyev. Foreign Minister Riad Malki said in the message expressed greetings from the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, to the head of the Azerbaijani state and appreciation for Azerbaijan’s support in the UN General Assembly vote on granting Palestine the status of an "observer state".

The head of state expressed his gratitude for the message from the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, and asked the minister to convey his greetings to the head of the Palestinian state.
