President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received the former President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgi Parvanov.

The President of Azerbaijan noted the importance of former Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov’s participation in the Third Baku International Humanitarian Forum. Noting that the forum was traditionally held every year, President Ilham Aliyev said that international interest in the event was growing every year. The President of Azerbaijan also expressed his hope that some fruitful discussions regarding expansion of cooperation would be held within the Third Baku International Humanitarian Forum.

Congratulating the head of the Azerbaijani state on his victory in the presidential election, the former President of Bulgaria, Georgi Parvanov, regarded it as an indicator of popular support for President Ilham Aliyev's policies in Azerbaijan. He expressed his confidence that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria would continue to be active and productive. Georgi Parvanov also said he was pleased to attend the Baku International Humanitarian Forum again.

Thanking the guest for the kind words, President Ilham Aliyev pointed to Georgi Parvanov’s contribution to the development of relations between the two countries. Recalling with satisfaction his own visits to Bulgaria and Georgi Parvanov’s visits to Azerbaijan, the President highlighted their importance to the creation of a new format of friendly relations and partnership between the two countries. He said there were extensive opportunities for a further expansion of relations.
