President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva have attended a ceremony to mark the completion of a project on the reconstruction of water supply system and creation of sewage system in the city of Goranboy.

Social projects carried out in Goranboy, which is now experiencing sustainable development, aim to ensure comfort of local residents and improve their living standard.

The project ensured continuous supply of 47,430 residents of Goranboy District and the city of Naftalan with drinking water.

Director of Azerbaijan Agency for Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Areas Ali Mammadov said the first stage of the project saw the construction of Balligaya water source and the main water pipe. Eleven basins were built along the pipe. Three water reservoirs with the capacity of 1,000 cm each, administrative buildings and a production base were built in the first stage. It also saw the consecution of various water and sewage lines, all consumers were provided with water metres. A wastewater and water purification complex with the daily capacity of 5,000 cm was also built, technological systems installed.

The head of state started the installation supplying water into the network.

Then President Ilham Aliyev met with residents of Goranboy District.
