Ilham Aliyev attended the ceremony to start water supply from Takhtakorpu-Jeyranbatan canal to new lands in Khizi District

In the frame of Azerbaijani President's visit to the Khizi and Siyazan regions, a ceremony to start water supply from Takhtakorpu-Jeyranbatan canal to new lands to be irrigated in the area took place on September 4.

President Ilham Aliyev attended the ceremony.

The chairman of "Melioration and Water Management" Open Joint Stock Company Ahmed Ahmedzade in detail informed the head of state on the project. He said that in the project prepared on the Khizi region which is included into the project "Improving water supply system of existing irrigated lands and commissioning of newly irrigated lands in Shabran, Siyazan and Khizi districts", it is envisioned commissioning of the new irrigated lands with a total area of 12 thousand 579 hectares, of which on 9 thousand 609 hectares were carried melioration and improved the water supply of 2 thousand 970 hectares of the existing cultivated areas.

President of Azerbaijan put into operation the installation on water supply from the Takhtakorpu-Jeyranbatan canal on the new irrigated lands in the Khizi district.

The head of state was in detail informed on the "Improving water supply system of existing irrigated lands and commissioning of newly irrigated lands in Shabran, Siyazan and Khizi districts" project entering the project of reconstruction of the Samur-Absheron irrigating system.

It was brought to attention that the new irrigated land plots include the lands which are in the state, municipal and private property. Water will run from the Takhtakorpu-Jeyranbatan and Samur-Absheron new canals. The project includes construction of 200,3 kilometers closed and 69,4 kilometers open irrigating networks with a general extent of 269,7 kilometers. For improvement of melioration condition of lands it was projected a collector and drainage network on the area of 1150 hectares. The project was approved in 2014 by the Ministry of Emergency Situations according to the conclusion of state examination.

It was sated that for commissioning in the Khizi district until the end of current year additional 3 thousand 715 hectares, including 2 thousand 315 hectares of the new irrigated lands, and improvement of water supply of 1400 hectares of the existing irrigated lands, it is envisioned to complete the melioration activities. Thereby, in 2015 on the Khizi district, it will be ensured commissioning of 7 thousand 111 hectares, including 5 thousand 399 hectares of the new irrigated lands, and be improved the water supply of 1712 hectares of the existing irrigated lands. And in 2016, it will be carried out works on improvement of water supply of the territory of 5 thousand 468 hectares to complete the project in the Khizi district. For improvement of melioration condition of the new irrigated lands, also will be provided construction on 1150 hectares of a collector and drainage network.

President Ilham Aliyev gave instructions and recommendations to heads of the relevant ministries and structures about effective use of the created opportunities, timely and successful implementation of the next projects.
