President Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Asian Development Bank President Haruhiko Kuroda.

The President expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Baku is hosting the 10th anniversary Ministerial Conference of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program. President Aliyev pointed to the importance of regional cooperation and partnership. Indicating that Azerbaijan has carried out important work towards implementing large-scale social and infrastructure projects in recent years, the President stressed the importance of power generation programs, in particular projects in the field of alternative and renewable energy, creation of an up-to-date road and transport infrastructure, construction of new airports, development of the sea transport, expansion of the underground transport network in Baku, creation and renovation of water supply and sanitation systems.

Asian Development Bank President Haruhiko Kuroda praised the landscaping and creative work carried out in Azerbaijan, including Baku. He said the social infrastructure projects successfully under way in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Aliyev conform to the development strategy of the ADB member-countries. Haruhiko Kuroda said the Asian Development Bank was interested in participating in projects in Azerbaijan more actively. He briefed the President on the work the bank is doing to reduce the impact of the global financial crisis on Asian countries.

The sides discussed the projects the bank has implemented in Azerbaijan and exchanged views on prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Asian Development Bank.
