President Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the Mayor of Astrakhan city of the Russian Federation, Sergey Bozhenov.

Astrakhan Mayor Sergey Bozhenov expressed his satisfaction with visiting Azerbaijan with a large delegation again. He said that by the decision of the Astrakhan City Council, President Ilham Aliyev had been awarded the diploma of an “Honorary Citizen of Astrakhan” and presented the diploma and a medal of an “Honorary Citizen of Astrakhan” to the head of state.

Stressing that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin had also been awarded the diploma of an “Honorary Citizen of Astrakhan” recently, Sergey Bozhenov said he was proud that the President of Azerbaijan and the Russian Prime Minister were honorary citizens of the city he is leading.

The President of Azerbaijan thanked the Astrakhan City Council and the city administration for the decision to award him the diploma of an “Honorary Citizen of Astrakhan”. Expressing his satisfaction with the successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, including those between cities of our countries, President Aliyev pointed to a high level of cooperation between Baku and Astrakhan in this context.

The head of state recalled his visit to Astrakhan to participate in the unveiling of a statue of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev erected as a sign of respect of the city residents for his memory. Indicating that Azerbaijani business people were involved in the reconstruction of Astrakhan’s urban infrastructure and the development of the city’s educational sector, President Aliyev said all these measures served to further enhance relations between our countries and cities.
