President Ilham Aliyev has received the President of the General Confederation of Trade Unions, Mikhail Shmakov, and the Secretary General of the Confederation, Vladimir Shcherbakov.
The President of the General Confederation of Trade Unions, Mikhail Shmakov, said with satisfaction that there was a close partnership and active cooperation between the government and trade unions in Azerbaijan.
Stressing that on every visit to Azerbaijan he was witnessing major development and positive change, the President of the General Confederation of Trade Unions, Mikhail Shmakov, said that Azerbaijan’s experience under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev was often discussed at the meetings of his organization as a good example. Mikhail Shmakov said the organization had passed a unanimous decision to award the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev the honorary gold mark of the GCTU “For service to the trade union movement”, and presented the award to the head of state.
The Secretary General of the Confederation, Vladimir Shcherbakov, gave a high assessment to the relations between the governments and trade unions in Russia and Azerbaijan.
The President expressed his satisfaction with the award from the General Confederation of Trade Unions and regarded it as an assessment of the cooperation between the government and trade union organizations in Azerbaijan. President Aliyev said the main goal of the Azerbaijani state was to improve social conditions for the people and further strengthen the national economy.
The President said the relations between the two countries in all fields, including political, economic and cultural, were successfully developing and were of the nature of strategic partnership. Noting that bilateral relations were based on a solid historical foundation and humanitarian cooperation, President Aliyev regarded the activity of the Azerbaijan Slavic University, Russian-language schools, the Russian Culture Centre, the Baku branch of Moscow State University, the construction of an office building of the Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church as an example of cooperation in the field. The President expressed his confidence that the relations between the two countries would continue to develop.
