Ilham Aliyev inaugurated several facilities in Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park

On April 30, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, visited the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park to inaugurate two new facilities: a construction chemicals production plant operated by "Kartash Kimya" LLC and a factory by "Az-Tex-Import" LLC for the production of IVECO-branded trucks and special-purpose vehicles.

The event commenced with the inauguration of the construction chemicals production facility of "Kartash Kimya" LLC.

Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov first briefed the head of state on the operations of industrial zones across the country, with a particular focus on the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.

At present, Azerbaijan is home to nine industrial parks and four industrial districts. To date, 170 business entities have been granted either resident or non-resident status within these zones, attracting a total investment of 8.1 billion manats. Entrepreneurs have invested over 6.9 billion manats in the industrial zones, leading to the creation of more than 10,600 permanent jobs. So far, the zones have produced goods valued at 16.2 billion manats, of which 5.2 billion manats have been exported.

Established by Presidential Decree in 2011, the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park is Azerbaijan’s first and the largest industrial park in the South Caucasus.
Covering an area of 613 hectares, the park hosts competitive production and processing facilities in the petrochemical sector and other priority industries.
Resident status has been granted to 39 business entities, representing a total investment of approximately 6 billion manats, 24 of which are currently operational. With the inauguration of the two new plants today, the number of operating enterprises has risen to 26.
To date, residents of the park have generated approximately 14 billion manats in sales, with around 5 billion manats attributed to exports.
In the first quarter of 2025, production at the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park increased by 14.2 percent, while exports rose by 17.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
The park currently provides permanent employment to over 6,000 individuals, and its products are exported to more than 70 countries.

The head of state attended the opening ceremony of the construction chemicals production plant operated by "Kartash Kimya" LLC, located within the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed that "Kartash Kimya" LLC had been granted resident status in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park in July 2022. The President had laid the foundation for the 2.5-hectare plant in 2023.

The facility is equipped with advanced Turkish machinery and features seven production lines. It has an annual production capacity of 295,000 tons, primarily utilizing domestically sourced raw materials. This new plant will not only broaden the range of available products but also reduce reliance on imports by manufacturing items that were previously unavailable in the domestic market.

The company also plans to export its products to Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and Georgia.

President Aliyev officially launched the plant’s operations.

The facility will produce cement-based dry mixes, waterproofing materials, flooring materials, cement grinding additives, concrete additives, and their key raw materials.

The plant currently employs 102 individuals, with plans to increase the workforce to 245 in the next phase of development.
The total investment in the project amounts to 25 million manats. A concessional loan of 6 million manats was provided to the enterprise by the Entrepreneurship Development Fund under the Ministry of Economy. The company has also benefited from the incentives available to residents of the industrial park.

President Ilham Aliyev also attended the opening ceremony of the IVECO truck and special-purpose vehicle manufacturing plant established by "Az-Tex-Import" LLC.

The company was registered as a resident of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park in April 2022. That same year, the President laid the foundation for the enterprise.

The facility will assemble IVECO trucks and special-purpose vehicles imported from Italy. The second phase of the project includes the production of vehicle bodies. The plant is expected to produce 100 trucks and special-purpose vehicles, as well as 300 vehicle bodies annually.
The project is anticipated to create 150 new jobs across both phases, with 96 individuals already employed in the first phase.
President Aliyev officially launched the enterprise’s operations.
In addition to supplying the domestic market, the plant aims to export its products internationally. "Az-Tex-Import" LLC has also benefited from all tax and customs incentives available to residents of the Sumgayit Industrial Park.
The project, with a total investment exceeding 19.2 million manats, occupies a 4-hectare area within the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.
The commissioning of these new enterprises will further strengthen the development of Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector, expand export markets, accelerate economic diversification, and make a significant contribution to employment growth.

President Ilham Aliyev inspected the operations of a horticulture and cold storage complex in the Gusar District.

On April 30, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the horticulture and cold storage complex of "Ismikhanli" Limited Liability Company (LLC) in the Gusar District.

Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov briefed the President on the operations of the complex.

The company has established state-of-the-art intensive orchards covering 330 hectares in Gusar and 30 hectares in Agsu. Currently, these orchards include 230 hectares of apple trees, 35 hectares of pear trees, 26 hectares of peach trees, 21 hectares of nectarine trees, and 18 hectares of cherry trees. This intensive orchard model maximizes the efficient use of agricultural land and ensures high productivity.

The complex supports year-round sales and exports of the harvested fruits. The products are sold on the local market and exported to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Russia.

Experts from Türkiye, Italy, and Spain have been brought in to ensure precise and efficient agro-technical practices in the orchards. Highly efficient drip irrigation technology is employed, promoting environmental sustainability and preventing water loss. The farm's equipment fleet includes modern machinery from leading global manufacturers.

The cold storage complex was commissioned in October 2023. It includes a refrigerated fruit storage facility with a capacity of 8,700 tons, a sorting and packaging area, a materials warehouse, and loading docks. The storage facility is equipped with 29 refrigeration chambers, each with a 300-ton capacity.

The modern sorting equipment categorizes fruits by color, shape, and size, ensuring packaging meets market demands. The sorting area also features equipment capable of producing over a thousand folding and gluing packaging boxes per hour.

The "Ismikhanli" horticulture and cold storage complex, a project valued at 18 million manats, provides 270 permanent jobs and 400 seasonal jobs. The Entrepreneurship Development Fund under the Ministry of Economy provided a concessional loan of 3.3 million manats to support the project. The company also benefited from customs and tax exemptions on imported equipment.
