Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by President of the Russian Federation`s Republic of Dagestan, Magomedsalam Magomedov.
Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and President of Russian Federation’s Republic of Dagestan, Magomedsalam Magomedov, held a one-on-one meeting.
Later, they were joined by their official delegations for an expanded meeting.
Having praised the fact that President of the Republic of Dagestan, Magomedsalam Magomedov, had chosen Azerbaijan to be the first destination to visit as a president, Ilham Aliyev mentioned that historical and cultural ties bound Azerbaijan and Dagestan together. President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the visit of the President of the Republic of Dagestan to Azerbaijan would bring the two nations closer to each other and contribute to exploring prospects of economic cooperation, strengthening of regional security, and investments. Expressing content with successful development of bilateral high-level relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, President Ilham Aliyev pointed out to their strategic character. The President expressed confidence that the Dagestani leader`s visit would contribute to expanding the Azerbaijan-Russia relations.
President of the Republic of Dagestan, Magomedsalam Magomedov, delivered the deep respect and reverence of Dagestani people to the President. Magomedsalam Magomedov talked about the appreciation of the Dagestani people of President Ilham Aliyev’s policy toward preserving tolerance in Azerbaijan. The President of the Republic of Dagestan emphasized the historical roots of friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as the two nations, and expressed confidence in preservation of these traditions for the generations to come.

Later that day, President Ilham Aliyev hosted a dinner in honor of Dagestani President Magomedsalam Magomedov.
