President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has accepted the credentials of the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Azerbaijan, Giampaolo Cutillo.
Ambassador Giampaolo Cutillo reviewed the guard of honor.
The diplomat handed his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.
Then, President Ilham Aliyev had a discussion with the Ambassador.
The President stressed that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Italy were successfully developing and had already reached a level of partnership. Recalling with satisfaction the historic visit of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Italy, Enrico Letta, to Azerbaijan and the discussions carried out during the visit, President Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of the visit for a further strengthening of the ties. The President said there were good opportunities for the expansion of ties between the two countries in various areas, including the fields of investment in economic, energy and other areas.
Ambassador GiampaoloCutillo said that he was deeply impressed with the process of rapid development taking place in Azerbaijan. He also touched upon the significance of the historic visit of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Italy, Enrico Letta,to Azerbaijan. Noting the importance of a further development of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, trade, mutual investment, culture, tourism, civil society and other sectors, the Ambassador said that he would spare no effort to further reinforce bilateral relations during his diplomatic mission in the country.
The sides exchanged views on cooperation with Azerbaijan within the framework of the European Union.
