Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Irena Degutiene.
President Ilham Aliyev said the mutual political activities between the two countries were on a good level and great potential existed for broadening of economic ties. The President highlighted the importance of inter-parliamentary ties, adding that both countries have a cooperation experience with the European Parliament, Council of Europe, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, NATO Parliamentary Assembly and other international organizations, which carries traditional character. President Ilham Aliyev said he was positive that the visit of Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Irena Degutiene, to Azerbaijan would contribute to enhancement of relations in this field.
Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas, Irena Degutiene, expressed her contentment with her visit to Azerbaijan and the chance to get to know the country closer. She reminded that the companies, representing her country, would participate in the Azerbaijan-Lithuanian business forum to be organized in Baku, and stressed the importance of this event for development of relations in various fields. Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Irena Degutiene reinstated Lithuania’s support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
