President Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led Parliament Speaker of the Kyrgyz Republic Akhmatbek Keldibekov.

The President said that the visit by a large delegation led Parliament Speaker of the Kyrgyz Republic Akhmatbek Keldibekov to Azerbaijan would create a good opportunity to discuss bilateral relations in all spheres and identify ways of developing them further. Expressing his satisfaction with the participation of such a large Kyrgyz parliament delegation in the 3rd Congress of World Azerbaijanis, President Ilham Aliyev said the event was already of traditional nature. He pointed to the importance of regular five-year meetings of Diaspora organizations of world Azerbaijanis in Baku. Saying that bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic were developing in a positive direction, the President recalled his meetings with Kyrgyz leaders in which bilateral and regional issues were discussed. Regarding inter-parliamentary cooperation, President Ilham Aliyev said the launch of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries elevated these ties to a higher level and parliaments of the countries were actively cooperating within the organization. The President stressed the importance of the visit by Parliament Speaker of the Kyrgyz Republic Akhmatbek Keldibekov to Azerbaijan in terms of a further expansion of bilateral relations.

Parliament Speaker of the Kyrgyz Republic Akhmatbek Keldibekov expressed his satisfaction with the visit to Azerbaijan. He expressed his gratitude to the head of state for awarding the great writer and thinker of the Kyrgyz people, Chingiz Aitmatov, with one of Azerbaijan’s highest awards, the Dostlug Order, in 2008. Noting that his country always reveres the memory of the nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people and great political figure Heydar Aliyev, Akhmatbek Keldibekov stressed that while working in a high public post in the Soviet Union, great leader Heydar Aliyev always defended the interests of republics. He said his country still cherishes the memories of great leader Heydar Aliyev’s visit to the Kyrgyz Republic in the years of independence and his participation in the celebrations of the 1000th anniversary of the historical heritage of the Kyrgyz people – Manas. Akhmatbek Keldibekov said there were great opportunities for the development of bilateral relations in various spheres, including the expansion of inter-parliamentary ties.
