President Ilham Aliyev received former President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga.
Ms. Vaira Vike-Freiberga said a lot of work had been carried out in Baku since her last visit to the country five years ago. She noted Baku had turned into a beautiful and modern city, and congratulated the Azerbaijani President on the accomplishments achieved.
The President, in turn, expressed his gratitude for pleasant words and noted that large-scale projects were being carried out in Baku, as well as the regions of Azerbaijan, and a large volume of investments were directed toward various spheres, including the development of tourism.
Touching upon the international ties of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev mentioned that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the European Union.
Ms. Vaira Vike-Freiberga said she would always support the expansion of Azerbaijan-EU cooperation.
